KODI Project with Make it Write
At KOcycle, we believe technology shouldn’t end up in landfill when it still has so much life left to give. That belief is at the heart of everything we do as an ITAD provider and it’s exactly what drove our involvement in a project that’s now changing the way children learn in rural Nepal.
Working alongside Make it Write, we helped deliver a purpose-built Digital Lab that’s giving students access to technology, curriculum-based digital learning, and opportunities that simply weren’t there before.
Here’s what the project achieved and why it matters.
The heart of the project is a dedicated computer lab, measuring 15m x 5m, fully equipped with:
But hardware alone doesn’t create education. That’s why a full-time teacher was appointed to deliver Nepal’s government-approved curriculum through the lab, making sure digital learning is properly embedded into everyday school life rather than sitting as an add-on.
We know from experience that donating equipment is only half the job, the real value comes from making sure it’s used well, maintained, and supported for the long term.

The impact doesn’t stop at the school gates. The lab now serves four additional schools in the surrounding area, each given dedicated access time to use the facility. What started as a single classroom project has grown into a shared community resource, extending digital access to far more students than originally planned.
Our support for the Digital Lab reflects exactly why we do what we do. As an ITAD provider, our mission has always been to extend the lifecycle of technology – refurbishing and redistributing IT assets rather than letting them go to waste.
This project is that mission in action. Equipment that might otherwise have reached the end of its working life is instead powering classrooms, supporting teachers, and opening doors for children in rural Nepal. It’s circularity, responsible reuse, and social impact, working together to create something that genuinely lasts.
Make it Write supports children in rural schools by providing free stationery and education-focused resources, working with supporters and partner organisations to widen access to learning. Founded by Dinesh Mangaru, Make it Write is a social enterprise built on the belief that every child has the right to write, learn and create. Inspired by a 2007 visit to Zimbabwe, the organisation provides free stationery and practical education support to children in rural schools through sponsored products, collection campaigns, and partnerships with charities and trusts.
