Children of Kilimanjaro Orphanage with KOcycle donations
Through its Project KODI programme and the dedication of partner Natilik, KOcycle has helped bring digital learning to children at the Children of Kilimanjaro Orphanage in Tanzania.
KOcycle is proud to announce its support for a transformative educational initiative at the Children of Kilimanjaro Orphanage in Tanzania, made possible through the passion of Richard Godfrey, Sales Director at Natilik, a valued KOcycle partner.
Richard Godfrey recently travelled to Tanzania, where he worked directly with the orphanage team to help establish a dedicated media room designed to support the learning and development of the children in their care. Recognising that access to technology is a fundamental part of modern education, the project aims to give these young people the tools they need to thrive.
“At KOcycle, we believe that technology should be a gateway and not a barrier. When partners like Natilik go above and beyond to bring that belief to life on the ground, it perfectly embodies why we do what we do and we want to support in anyway we can.” Mike Mclellan, on the partnership with Natilik
As part of this initiative, KOcycle donated five iPads through its Project KODI programme. Project KODI is a dedicated effort to tackle digital poverty by ensuring refurbished technology finds a meaningful second life in the hands of those who need it most. The devices will form part of the new media room, enabling children to access digital education, creative tools, and the wider world of learning that technology can unlock.
KOcycle also contributed raffle prizes and funds to further support the campaign, helping to drive awareness and raise additional resources for the orphanage’s ongoing needs.
The impact of this collaboration has been significant. Where once the orphanage had no meaningful access to digital resources, there is now a dedicated space for learning and discovery, a step forward that the children, carers, and supporters of the organisation will feel for years to come.
“This is exactly the kind of real-world impact that Project KODI exists to create. Seeing technology placed in the hands of children who will genuinely benefit – and that is why we set up KODI.” Mike Mclellan on Project KODI’s mission
Both KOcycle and Natilik are proud B Corp certified businesses, a status that reflects a genuine commitment to using business as a force for good – balancing people, planet, and profit. This project is a living example of that shared philosophy in action: two organisations, united by values, creating lasting change far beyond their immediate commercial sphere.
For KOcycle, supporting partners who go out of their way to make a difference in the world is something to celebrate. Richard Godfrey’s dedication to this project, giving his time, energy, and expertise to a community thousands of miles away, exemplifies the kind of partnership that KOcycle is proud to nurture and champion.
Digital poverty remains one of the most pressing but often overlooked forms of inequality in the world today. Through Project KODI, KOcycle is committed to ensuring that the lifecycle of every device it handles contributes to closing that gap whether through data-secure refurbishment, responsible recycling, or direct donation programmes like this one.
KOcycle extends its deepest thanks to Richard Godfrey and the entire team at Natilik for making this happen, and to everyone who supported the campaign. Together, we are proving that the circular economy and social impact are not just compatible, they are inseparable.
